Abstract

The paper shows that the inclusion of foreign lands within the boundaries of the Russian Empire was duly reflected in the titulature of the Emperors and in Russian heraldic symbols. Georgia was not an exclusion. It is stressed out that “Georgian King” had its place among the other titles within the official titulature of the Russian Emperors. Remarkably enough, the government of the Russian Empire placed the heraldic symbols of various Caucasian lands within the “Coat of Arms of the Georgian kingdom”, under the original crown of the one-thousand-years-long royal dynasty of Bagrationi, thus showing the historical importance of Georgia as of hegemonic power within the Caucasus.
