Abstract

Investigation and prosecution of crimes committed by public officials is characterized by specific features. In this respect, particularly interesting is the procedure of initiation and conduct of criminal prosecution. These persons enjoy immunity, which may hamper the start of criminal prosecution. Thus the right of these persons to participate in investigation is limited, which creates ground for them to be involved in criminal proceedings in different unlawful ways. For this purpose, its would be much better to introduce the institution of “assisted witness” in Georgian legal procedure.
