dc.description.abstract The research relates to Scandinavian society in the Middle Ages, more specifically the Viking age (VIII-XI centuries). In this case, I discuss the spread of Christianity in Scandinavia and the missionary work. In the modern era, the growing interest in Scandinavian countries is becoming increasingly relevant. Nowadays, these countries are developing a model for modern states, including Georgia. Scandinavian countries are on the top list of socio-economically and politically advanced countries with : economic growth, social achievement, high quality of education, etc. The Nordic-Scandinavian welfare state concept has become increasingly relevant since the 20th century with a level of material prosperity, low rates of economic inequality, gender balance, full employment, etc. Although Georgia and the Nordic countries do not have a great prehistory, Georgia, as part of Europe with its past, present and future, will always be a strategic and interesting partner for Scandinavian countries, this is undoubtedly demonstrated by the existing bilateral relations in the area of human rights, the rule of law, the energy sector, justice reform, and the protection of human and minority rights. Naturally, the beginnings of these processes must be traced back to the historical processes of the Middle Ages, when the kingdoms of Scandinavia were formed, Christianity spread, which gave a significant impetus to the communication of these kingdoms with the civilized world. Thus, without studying the processes that took place in the Middle Ages, it is difficult to study the above-mentioned important issues and therefore its significance is undoubtedly great. The spread of Christianity accelerated the integration of this society with civilized Europe, which in turn helped to expand free trade, political and cultural contacts. It can be said that these processes, starting in the Middle Ages and in the modern era, form a whole chain, the study of which, is as important and relevant as the analysis of the development of modern events. The purpose of this search is to study and analyse the history of medieval Europe, specifically the spread of Christianity in the Scandinavian kingdoms, through the examination and analysis of Western European chroniclers and traveler papers. The mentioned issues are less studied in the Georgian scientific space and the interest towards it is quite logical. In this particular case, a combination of the following methods is used in the research process: empirical material structuring, observation, description and comparative analysis. en_US
