Abstract
Suliko - the poem of Akaki Tsereteli was published in 1995. In the same year, Barbare-Varinka Machavariani-Tsereteli composed a song based on this poem, which resulted in the popularity of the poem and song. In 2015, under the auspices of UNESCO, the 175th anniversary of the birth of Akaki Tsereteli and the 100th anniversary of his death were celebrated. In connection with this date, I prepared a collection of translations of Suliko with research, notes, comments, photos, and audio materials, “Suliko in the languages of nations of the world”. The collection has built-in QR readers, and there is also an opportunity to listen to the renditions of Suliko in different languages. This collection was published twice in 2018 for the Frankfurt Book Festival, where Georgia was the honorary host, by the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University publishing house and the German-Polish publishing house KIWI Publishing. In the collection, I included more than 80 translations of Suliko made in different languages, including 7 translations into German. The research presented will be based on the German translations published in this edition. In general, it should be stressed that in most translations the word Suliko is invariably transferred. Transfer of the title of the poem without translation is found in almost all translations of Suliko. It should also be noted that the preservation of the dimensions of the poem and song, which in most translations are presented in various forms, but mostly retained, as Suliko became popular as a song, and hence the textual and vocal dimensions have been preserved. This preserves the authenticity of the poem and song, but the authors of the text and song are lost in the translations. Some of them indicate that Suliko is a folk poem and song. Suliko has been translated into many languages. Some languages even have multiple translations. According to our observations, there are more than ten translations into German. In one part of translations, the poem is fully translated, in other parts, only the vocal stanzas are translated.
