Abstract:
The answers to the question, in what case does the author change the
written text, may be numerous. For instance, the author may have wanted
to do better, or after some time, he may have thought the text to be outdated
and was driven by the so-called desire to give his work a “new life”, or
even, this “correction” may not have been made by the author but by a censor.
Things are said differently abroad. The place of the author-character
is not insignificant in these texts. If we follow the biographical events, the
poems are not insignificant, the poetically voiced thinking is insignificant.
The momentary emotion is striking. There is no ideological censor in this
space. Here the exact evaluator is the writer’s talent and conscience. However,
I would call the poetic texts I present “awareness of reality”. Here time
plays a crucial role. Thus, the “corrected” version (different paragraphs or
stanzas) is a different interpretation. At first, this is a general text story,
then the modified versions are accompanied by the indication of the time
they were changed. They convey the author’s spiritual condition carefully
and so to speak, as a reference.
In this paper, I discuss the poems published by several authors (Simon
Berezhiani, Giorgi Gamkrelidze) published in emigration, in various cities
(Berlin, Paris, Santiago de Chile) and the “corrected” texts published in other
newspapers or books.
In general, immigrant poetry is less known to the general public, especially
its variants. Finding, analyzing and exploring them from the literary
standpoint, is important not only from an artistic point of view but, also,
from a scientific point of view.
