Abstract:
The wine industry plays an important role in Georgia's economic development. Vineyard areas have increased in recent years, new wineries have been established and the old ones have been expanded, international standards of quality management and wine production are introduced, grape growers' income is increasing, export of Georgian wine is increasing in almost every direction, especially in the US, UK, China, Poland, France,
Mongolia and Japan; however, the post-Soviet countries still account for a large share of wine export. The present paper analyzes the export potential of Georgian wines, assesses the main challenges of exporting Georgian wines and elaborates recommendations that will help the growth of Georgian wine in the world market.
