Abstract:
An essence of “Mayflower Bill” rests on an idea of Promised Land, creation of a state based
on entirely new political-theological worldview and values. “New belief” declared by
intellectual elite of Puritanism established new political unity.
At one time in European Enlightenment epoch a new political-theological discourse was
created by Anthim the Iberian. In his works, especially in “Typicon”, the ideas of unity of belief
and knowledge and everybody is free in a world created by God, are central. His politicaltheological
appeal sounds like manifesto “people who does not love God and who wants to
enslave us, we have to fight“.
In our presentation we try to analyze two models, discussion between two different
concepts. Is it possible to establish state based on theological principles of goodness, virtue,
freedom?
