Abstract:
Nowadays, the battle against drugs and its abuse is an extremely challenging matter
in Georgia. The article covers American methods against this painful problem during
Ronald Reagan’s administration, and how he and Nancy were actively involved in the
fi ght against it.
For the Reagans, drug addiction, coming from their religious and moral views, was
unacceptable and opposed their beliefs.
Ronald dedicated multiple speeches and legislative incentives regarding this topic.
The fi rst lady, Nancy Reagan, was also actively involved in the battle against this terrible
disease. She travelled all around the states and held meetings with the youth while preaching
her movement - Just Say No!
Despite their signifi cant eff ort, of course, the couple’s attempts were not enough for
the eradication of this issue in America. Still, we can believe that they were at least able
to slow down the distribution of drugs.
Hopefully, the activity of Reagan’s will be an excellent example to the world and
namely Georgia, on how personal involvement highest rank politicians can aff ect the
society and country. Although it may not eliminate the issue, it can still change and save
a small group of people.
