Based on a comparative analysis, the main differences and similarities of the methodological approaches and practices of Geostat and Eurostat were identified.Item Demographic knowledge level of students in Georgia(Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Press, 2019) Gelashvili, Simon; Mindorashvili, Marine; Maghradze, NinoThe demographic structure of the population plays a significant role in the socioeconomic development of the country. Given this importance, it is necessary to study demographic events and processes, as well as public opinion, knowledge and awareness of these issues. Quantitative and qualitative indicators of demographic knowledge level of students in Georgia were obtained from sampling statistical analysis by using SPSS software. Many general and special indicators (ratios, means and variations) were calculated and evaluated during the research process. The analysis revealed students’ different demographic mood according to gender, age, ethnicity and other groups. According to the results of the survey, 22.8% of respondents fi nd demographic problems most challenging in Georgia. Majority of them (67.0%) think that the demographic situation in the country is alarming and needs to be corrected, 28.9% consider the situation catastrophic, and only 1.0% believe that the situation is stable and does not require regulation. It should be noted that 17.3% of the students surveyed fi nd it difficult to assess their demographic situation in the country, since they have never been interested in this issue. The study revealed a low level of demographic education of students in Georgia, which is mainly due to the lack of relevant subjects.Item Employment statistics in the business sector of Georgia against the backdrop of pandemic shocks(Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Press, 2022) Abesadze, Nino; Gelashvili, Simon; Mindorashvili, Marine; Dzebisauri, LiaThe article provides a statistical analysis of employment in the business sector according to the form of ownership of enterprises, size of enterprises, organizational-legal form and regional cut. Emphasis is made and indicators are calculated according to the category of employees, as well as hired employees. Based on the analysis conducted according to each classification sign, appropriate conclusions are made. In the research process are used: statistical grouping, data presentation, time series, variation analysis and other methods. The indicators of employment in the business sector were highly heterogeneous according to years, regions, forms of ownership and size of enterprise. During the analysis period, the number of employees increased by 7% on average every year, but in 2020, their number decreased by 7% compared to the previous year; In the business sector, the largest number of people are employed in industry, wholesale and retail trade, automobile and motorcycle repair and construction; Most are employed in the limited liability companies, however, the number of employees in joint-stock companies and cooperatives is also increasing dynamically. According to the number of workplaces, private structures are distinguished, most of which are owned by local individuals or legal entities. Most people are employed in Tbilisi. In 2021, significant part of the jobs in business sector will come from the large and small business sector.Item Micro and macro aspects of household statistics(Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Press, 2018) Mindorashvili, MarineHousehold statistics is a complex task in both the micro- and macroeconomic contexts. The article discusses different issues in household statistics, such as the population census, the system of national accounts, household wealth. Most of used categories are in harmony with each other, but some create difficulties, such is definition of consumer durables in SNA and in micro statistics on household wealth.Item The role of sector accounts in the progressive alignment of Georgia with the European statistical system(Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Press, 2022) Mindorashvili, Marine; Dzebisauri, LiaThe development of sector accounts within the system of national accounts is the high on the Development Strategy of the National System of Official Statistics of Georgia and the global policy agenda as well. The System of National Accounts (SNA) is a comprehensive, consistent and flexible set of macroeconomic accounts to meet the needs of government, policy-makers, decisionstakers and private-sector analysts. National accounts provide information to analyze the structure of economies and their development over time. SNA promotes the integration of economic and related statistics in a system that is based on consistent economic and statistical concepts and methods. As such, it allows domestic and international comparative analysis, helps economists to measure the level of economic development and the rate of economic growth, the change in consumption, saving, investment, debts and wealth for not only the total economy but also each of its institutional sectors. Institutional sector accounts present a complete and consistent set of data for sectors, which combine institutional units with broadly similar characteristics and behavior. The role of sector accounts is extremely important in constructing the comprehensive system of national accounts of any countries. As Georgian statistics is on its starting point to develop sector accounts, current abstract emphasizes the needs of sharing the best practice of the EU countries in compilation of sector accounts and making comprehensive analysis. Furthermore, progressive alignment of the statistical system of Georgia with the European Statistical System is defined by the EU-Georgia Association Agreement in order to ensure integrity and comparability of official statistics at the global level.Item Statistical analysis of students socio-demographic characteristics(Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Press, 2019) Mindorashvili, Marine; Abesadze, Nino; Giorgobiani, MaiaDirect impacts on demographic events and processes are limited. Therefore, it is difficult to establish the acceptable reproductive attitude of society, for the current stage and to determine its corresponding demographic behavior. The problem becomes more acute when it comes to demographic behavior of young people when background is not very favorable. In this case, of course, one should take into account not only the diversity of young people's ideas about the expected demographic behavior, but also the variety of family, national, economic and social factors, religious traditions and other life values that determine their demographic mood. The socio-demographic characteristics of the students we surveyed, serve to form the database for statistical assessment of the demographic mood of students in Georgia.Item Statistical indicators of tourism expenditures in Georgia(Universal, 2016) Abesadze, Nino; Mindorashvili, Marine; Paresashvili, NinoTourism expenditures are very important part of tourism statistical indicators. Especially great is their role in the country's economic growth. Survey carried out in major airports of Georgia on tourism expenditures of foreign visitors is another step forward for solution to these problems. Despite the limited budget, the survey achieved main goals and showed us the real picture. Recommendations for improvement of tourism statistics accounting issues will be submitted to National Statistics Office, the National Tourism Administration of Tourism and other interested organizations.Item Statistical survey of student employment and unemployment during the pandemic(Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Press, 2021) Abesadze, Nino; Mindorashvili, Marine; Kutsurua, ChristineThe article presents a statistical analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the standard of living of student households in Georgia. For both employed and unemployed student respondents, the main reasons for the deterioration of the standard of living are defined, the defining parameters of the reduction of students’ incomes and the condition of their households are set. Statistical observation, grouping and analysis methods are used in the research process. The basic calculations are based on the computer program SPSS. As a result of cross-tabulation analysis, relevant conclusions are formulated.
