| dc.description.abstract | Galaktion Tabidze’s attitude towards the revolution is different at different stages of his creativity. If the poet’s ideal in the 1910-20s is an artist from the revolution, a different situation is shown by the study of his work in the 1940s. This issue is also interesting because Galaktion Tabidze forms both (contradictory) views on the revolution concerning Goethe. Galaktion Tabidze discusses this issue in the published article “Foreword”. This article dates back to the 20s. This is the period when new revolutions have taken place and the question of what attitude the poet should have towards the revolution is relevant. This record of Galaktion provides another document to understand his true views on the revolution, helping us to revise the myth created by his promotion as if Galaktion happily embraced the revolution. The face of the poet who emerged from the revolutionary processes with Galaktion is nurtured by Goethe’s biography. In the poem “Talking about Lyrics”, Galaktion expresses sympathy for the revolution, which is due to the new political situation. The poem was written in the 1940s and bears even traces of conjuncture, if above Galaktion was presented as a poet as an apostate from Goethe’s revolution, now he portrays the German author as loyal to the revolution. | en_US |
