The life and activity of the national hero of Georgia Kaikhosro (Kakutsa) Cholokashvili is mentioned in various historical works and comrades memoirs, where this person is considered as the head of Sworn Brothers’ detachment (“Shepiculta Razmi”) and the leader of anti-soviet uprising. It is also well known about his military merits on the Caucasian front during the World War I. Nevertheless there are few materials about his military activities among the armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921). The unknown documents from the Central Historical Archive had revealed that from August 1918 to April 1920 he had been leading the first squadron unit of the peoples’ Guards cavalry division. In spring 1920, Kakutsa Cholokashvili and other officers as well, wrote the report about their retirement from people’s guard which turned out to be considered as a betrayal by the military staff. Furthermore, they asked the government to prohibit Kakutsa to enter in any kind of military service. According to Kakutsa’s letter sent to the military commission of the Constituent Assembly, their retirement was a protest against an arrest of treasurer of this squadroon. Staff of the guard started the preliminary investigation and only several months later they changed their minds. This meant that if this officers would desire to enter the military service, it would be discussed as individual case. Comrade-officer Nakashidze informs us that Kakutsa Cholokashvili himself attempted to enter the regular cavalry legion. In 1921 the Soviet Russia – Georgian war was lunched and Kakutsa with General Chavchavadze was sent to the West Georgia to form new cavalry legions. At the final stage of war, he had been leading new squadron. In this way, we have tried out to inform reader about the interesting and unknown facts from the military activity of the national hero of Georgia.en_US
