The impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on migration and remittance

Abstract

For the last several years the world had to deal with crisis caused by different reasons be it financial, migrational or political. Even though at the start of every new crisis nations did not have an unified action plan, they could use the experience gained during the previous crisis, which did not help them against Covid-19 world pandemic, because the key to end the crisis turned out to be in a much less predictable field – medical sector. In every part of the world, we saw empty public spaces, closed down education centers and suspended factories which in many countries depended on migrants’ labor, who brought to the country not only labor, but their knowledge, ideas and innovations as well. This is not a migration crisis, but it is the migrants, to whom the results of this crisis has hit the hardest. The goal of this paper is to overview general social-economic state of migrants and analyze the impact of these processes on the nations economies.
