| dc.description.abstract | The aim of the report is to present the use of Bloom’s taxonomy in teaching the history of the United States. Bloom’s taxonomy was created by an American educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom in the 1950s and includes six cognitive skills. Students enhance higher order thinking skills by Bloom’s taxonomy. If we look at the history of American education, we will see that few educational theorists or researchers have had as a profound impact on American educational practice as Bloom. Bloom’s taxonomy is used to teach a variety of subjects and it has not lost its actuality since its creation. The report discusses the methods of teaching the Civil War in the United States according to the textbook, which is based on Bloom's taxonomy, and compares it with the Georgian textbooks of history and the teaching methods which are used in Georgia. Unlike the United States, there is no diversity of teaching methods in Georgia. The implementation of different methods will also help students to be actively involved in the learning process, as in American schools. Although American students are competitive internationally, they still lag behind their foreign peers and achieve average results which indicates that there are fundamental problems in the system of American education that require more in-depth research. | en_US |
