Environmental security as a factor of sustainable development: the experience of the Benelux Countries (ეკოლოგიური უსაფრთხოება, როგორც მდგრადი განვითარების ფაქტორი: ბენელუქსის ქვეყნების გამოცდილება)

Abstract
Sustainable development as a development system, the purpose of which is to increase human well-being and quality of life, is based on the principle that the needs of the present must be met without endangering future generations. It is primarily focused on the provision of natural resources and environment protected from the quantitative and qualitative changes of the society. Based on the above, ensuring environmental security can be considered a priority task for the countries. The paper discused economic, social and ecological security indicators of sustainable development. Special attention is paid to ecological indicators in theoretical and practical terms. The model of the Benelux Countries is considered as one of the successful model. Therefore, the paper analyzes the features of the environmental policy, ecological security and the relevant indicators of the Benelux Countries.
