Abstract
Considering the profitable geographic location of Georgia, it has potential to become a major logistics hub of Caucasus and Central Asia. It is one of the main factors for increasing competitiveness of the country that will also foster export-led economic growth. Paper discusses problems of Georgian transport corridor, historical dynamics of
international cargo trucking, reasons for changes and perspectives. It is noted that further development of Georgian transit corridor largely depends on the strategy of “One Belt-One Road” – new Silk Road - initiated by China. However, it is still vague how perspective and viable China’s initiatives will be for Georgia. Time factor will play an important
role in solving transit corridor related problems.
